Carol Stos has literally grown up in Helvi’s Flower House. Her mother opened the store when she was only five years old, and the family lived in an apartment in the same building as the flower shop for many years. A graduate of Sudbury High School, Stos studied at the University of Western Ontario where she earned an Honours Bachelor degree in French and Spanish, and a Masters degree in Spanish Literature. She received her PhD in Spanish Literature from the University of Toronto. In addition to working part-time at the shop, Stos is a full-time Assistant Professor in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Laurentian University. Her favourite flower is anything she happens to be working with at the moment; but cymbidium orchids, flame-coloured gladioli, and Sweet Williams hold a special place in her heart.
